Susan Randall founded VTPrivateye nearly three decades ago after graduating from Brown University and filing stories for NPR. She has investigated hundreds of civil and criminal cases, including federal and capital defense and worked as an investigator for the VT Federal Public Defender’s office. A former journalist and documentary filmmaker, Susan has produced over fifty sentencing and settlement videos. She teaches nationally about mitigation & fact investigation and is President of the Vermont Association of Investigative and Security Services.
With more than 25 years working in the criminal justice system, Merry is a seasoned investigator with a background in forensic psychology and counseling. Before joining VTPrivateye, she spent 21 years at Disability Rights Vermont conducting abuse, neglect, and death investigations in correctional and mental health facilities. Merry’s expertise lies in handling sensitive, complex cases where persistence and compassion are critical.
Nick holds a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Rhode Island and began at VTPrivateye as an investigative intern before becoming a licensed investigator in Vermont. He has built a reputation for persistence in the field, excellent writing skills, and ability to build strong rapport with witnesses. Nick is also highly skilled in surveillance and brings technical expertise to the team.
Judy brings over 14 years of investigative experience, including service as an FBI Agent in the New York Field Office after graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico. She holds a J.D. from Vermont Law School and has investigated on both state and federal levels. A Vermont native, Judy is known for her skill with witness interviews, her experience in education and compliance investigations, and her commitment to thorough, ethical fact-finding.
Amaia is a native Vermonter with a master’s degree in forensic psychology and a decade of professional experience on both coasts. Her background includes mental health work, research, media production, and serving as lead researcher for a true crime author. Amaia brings a holistic perspective to investigations and is known for her diligence and care in supporting VTPI clients.
Wyatt Seder-Burnaford graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston College with degrees in English and Political Science, where he led the nationally ranked Mock Trial Program. Licensed as an investigator in 2025, his main focus is state felony cases and criminal defense investigation. Wyatt is detail-oriented, curious, and skilled at both research and communication. He has shown great persistence and has proven again & again that he is committed to “getting the goods.”
Fabien Achinda graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Classical Studies and a focus on political philosophy and constitutional law. After interning with VTPrivateye, he joined the team as a licensed investigator, taking on complex state felony cases and private investigations. Fabien is a tenacious investigator and has shown a deep commitment to helping our clients.
