Andrew Bartnick - Investigator/Mitigation Specialist
Andrew Bartnick brings more than 20 years of experience as an investigator at every level of government to your case. He is a fully licensed Private Investigator in Vermont and New York. He began his career as Confidential Investigator/Client Advocate at the Oneida County Public Defender’s Office in Utica, New York where he worked on every type of criminal case, from petit larceny to drugs to arson to murder. He moved to Albany, New York in 1996 and worked only on death penalty eligible homicide cases. He was the lead defense investigator on over 50 murder cases, none of which resulted in a death sentence.
In 1999, he moved to the beautiful Green Mountain State to help start the Federal Public Defender’s Office where he was the lead (and often only) defense investigator. During his time there, he gained experience working cases brought by the DEA, ATF, FBI, ICE and Vermont Joint Drug Task Force Teams. His death penalty defense experience was put to the test twice since coming to Vermont when he was entrusted with the tremendous responsibility and honor of working on the only capital cases brought in this district since 2000.
In 2014 he left the public sector to join Susan Randall at Vermont Private Eye. A fully licensed and accredited Private Investigator, he brings his tremendous experience and a unique blend of intellectual curiosity, compassion and drive to all of his investigations. He is a great listener and effective collaborator. He has consulted with some of the best and brightest attorneys and investigators in the country and has national and international contacts to call on when needed. He is discreet, knowledgeable and will be a valued asset to your defense team.
He balances professional life with energetic pursuits and a great love of the outdoors. He is an avid hiker, skier, musician and yoga practioner.
